The qualification has a new exam format that focuses wholeheartedly on the assessment of a candidate’s project management knowledge through four new question types that are designed to be accessible and to minimise barriers particularly for neurodiverse candidates. Commenting on the launch,
APM Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, Jackie Martin said; The APM Project Management Qualification is a flagship qualification for the profession. Project professionals want to achieve it and employers want their employees to hold it. This update is an important step forward in how we assess project management knowledge and understanding in a way that is accessible to all candidates by utilising assessment methodologies that cater to the diverse range of project professionals who sit it.”
The rigor and robustness of the qualification remains the same, targeted at those who have two to three years of experience in a project environment or a project management focused degree.
The development of the new APM Project Management Qualification saw APM hold its largest ever pilot of over 300 candidates who sat iterations of the new qualification. Overall, the pilot heralded overwhelming positive feedback from those involved.
Candidates who wish to sit the current APM Project Management Qualification have until 30 August to complete their exam but for those who wish to secure a resit opportunity as well, it is encouraged to sit the exam by July 2024. All exams for the current version of the Management Qualification must be completed by 4 October 2024.
Those whose knowledge aligns to the current syllabus but would like to transition to the new examination may do so with some additional training to fulfil the new syllabus and assessment requirements."
